Posted in the topic Bus to Kuala Lumpur from Johor Bahru in the forum Off-Topic Discussions

Johor Bahru is famously known as the Gateway to Singapore. However, the growth in tourism the city has seen a lot of stardom with shining skyscrapers and entertaining amusement parks. The nightlife of this city is completely lit with lights and attracts a lot of tourists all-round the year in its vicinity. Signature landmarks like Lego Land, Johor Zoo and the famous angry bird activity park sees thousands of visitors in a single day. These places prove to be ideal when you are visiting them with your family and kids.

There is literally no end to cultural attractions in this beautiful city and it would take more than a day to explore these attractions. In 2008, the UNESCO termed this city as a world heritage site – thanks to the numerous attractions it has to offer. It is considered one of the largest city in Malaysia with a population of more than 2.7 million people. Some decent projects have claimed to transform Johor Bahru into a biggest financial centre of Malaysia in the coming years. There are about 16 million tourists visiting the city annually. Two bridges with the neighbouring country of Singapore connect the city. The Singaporeans consider Johor Bahru as one of the cheapest places to shop at.

Tourism has been booming in this city in the recent years and this is precisely because of its close proximity to Kuala Lumpur. This is the reason why I headed to Kuala Lumpur from Johor Bahru.  I looked up for this website called redbus.my to book my tickets to Kuala Lumpur. The bus booking experience was quite smooth and fast.

There are about 4 Operators plying on the route between Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur. The City Express Operator, KBES, Causeway Link and Mayang Sari Express are the most famous Operators that provide bus services on this route. The City Express has about 4 buses plying throughout the day right from 12:30 midnight to 11:10 am in the morning. The total duration of the journey is about 4 and a half hours. However, if you leave during the night you should definitely complete your journey within 3 hours.  I generally sleep late at night so I booked the 2:00 am bus and I was in Kuala Lumpur by 5:00 am in the morning. The cost of the tickets start from MYR34 and go up all the way to MYR50 depending upon the class of Bus you book.

Another Operator that plies on this route is the KBES Operator, which has about 2 buses plying throughout the day – first one at 7:30 am and the other at 6:30 pm. I did not book tickets with this Operator as both the times, I was sure to encounter plenty of traffic on the road.  Mayang Sari Express and Causeway Link are the only two luxury Bus Operators plying between the two cities. The prices are a little on the higher side but that is justified with the services that they have to offer.
