   If the cancellation is made after you reach the airport, then along with the refund, you can expect quick compensation or travel points too.
      When the cancellation is notified before you reach the airport, then you can get the option for a new flight or a refund. It is up to you, which one you are going to choose.
      If you have cancelled the flight before the airlines do, then you are not going to receive the refund from the airlines, so make sure you check the status of the flight before cancellation.
      It does not matter whether the ticket is refundable or not; you are going to receive a refund from airlines for such cancellation.
