The underlying causes of anxiety disorders are not fully understood. Life experiences, such as traumatic events, seem to trigger anxiety disorders in people who are already prone to anxiety. Inherited traits may be a factor behind this.

Anxiety disorders can occur in adults who have experienced another traumatic event.disease stress. Having a serious health condition or illness can make you very anxious about things like treatment and the future.pressure buildup. Excessive anxiety can be the result of a major event or the accumulation of small life stressors, such as the death of a family member, feeling stressed about work, or constantly feeling anxious about financial circumstances.staff. Certain personality types are more likely to develop anxiety disorders than others.Other mental health disorders. People with mental health disorders, such as depression, often develop an anxiety disorder as well.Having relatives with an anxiety disorder. Anxiety disorders can be hereditary.Drugs or alcoholic beverages.
