Hydrocodone is primarily used for the treatment of severe pain that occurs on a daily basis and requires regular medicinal treatment that cannot be managed by any other alternative. It is an opiate analgesic or a narcotic drug. It may be habit-forming. This medicine works by operating in those areas of the brain and CNS that control the body’s response to pain and its sensation, thus they change the sensory response of the body towards pain. Hydrocodone extended-release tablets and capsules must not be taken for relief from pain that is occasional or as needed.
