I live in Newcastle and I just submitted my first development application in NSW for a small granny flat at the back of my property. It’s late September, and spring weather has been encouraging me to finally get started on this project after months of planning. I’ve heard from neighbours that approvals can sometimes drag on for months, while others say theirs went through in just a few weeks. With building costs rising quickly, I’m nervous about delays. Can anyone share recent experiences about how long councils are taking right now?
