BIS Certification (ISI) is required for exports to India under the Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme. BIS Registration (CRS), however, may be needed for some products. These products must have BIS Certification to be sold and introduced on the Indian Market. BIS Registration or BIS Certification issued by Bureau of Indian Standards assures the safety, quality and reliability of the products according to Indian Standards.
Under the Indian Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, the Bureau of Indian Standards is India’s national certification agency. It replaced and assumed the functions of Indian Standards Institutions (ISI), which was established on April 1, 1987.
