Mauritius won seven awards during the 21st edition of this most coveted awards in the tourism sector, ahead of Seychelles which won five awards, but behind Maldives that won ten including that of being the best destination.

Air Mauritius won the award for the best airline in the Indian Ocean, while at the same time the Mauritius International Airport was chosen as the best. It also won the award for best underwater diving.

The winners in Africa and the Indian Ocean are the latest to be announced by the World Travel Awards Obi Melifonwu Jersey , after those in the Middle East, Europe and South America in the beginning of the year.
