The firing took place at the Banjara Hills area of Hyderabad where many rich businessmen and local politicians lived. An unidentified man shot about three rounds in the car of K Nityananda Reddy, director and vice chairman of Aurobindo Pharma.
The police said that Reddy, 56, had just finished his morning walk at the popular KBR Park and was about to get into his car at about 7 a.m., when a man rushed up, got into the rear seat of the car and began to fire.
The attacker reportedly panicked when Reddy's brother Prasad Reddy walked up to the other side of the car, and ran away, escaping on foot. He left behind an AK 47 gun and a bag, the police said.
There have been no arrests so far.
ISLAMABAD， Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- A contingent of Pakistan athletes will participate in the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games to be held in Azerbaijan in May this year， officials here said on Wednesday.
According to a spokesman of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB)， Pakistan's contingent of 200 athletes and officials will take part in 14 disciplines of the Islamic Solidarity Games to be held from May 12 to 22 at Baku， Azerbaijan.
"The decision to feature in the games was at a meeting among the officials of the PSB and Pakistan Olympic Association in capital Islamabad on Wednesday，" said the official.
Pakistani players will participate in 14 disciplines， including athletics， basketball， boxing， handball， karate， shooting， swimming， table tennis， taekwondo， tennis， volleyball， weightlifting， wrestling and wushu.
Pakistan， by participating in the two earlier games， stood at 16th position among 38 participating countries with four medals， including three gold and one bronze medal.
Previously， the first event was held in Saudi Arabia in 2005 and the third in Indonesia in 2013， while the second event， scheduled to take place in October 2009 in Iran， was cancelled. Enditem
The World Cup, which kicks off this week in Brazil, will be the most tweeted event ever, a Twitter Inc executive said on Tuesday.
Brazil's Twitter director Guilherme Ribenboim said the volume of messages sent during the month-long competition starting on June 12 will dwarf the 150 million tweets sent about the 2012 London Olympic Games.
"The World Cup will take all that to a whole different level," Ribenboim told Reuters.
"For Twitter this will be the biggest event ever."
With 255 million users around the world, Twitter is a popular platform for commenting on global events such as sports.
The London Olympic Games showed people like to tweet about what they see at a stadium or watch on TV, making the microblog service more attractive for advertisers.
FIFA, football's governing body, estimated 3.2 billion people, or almost half the world's population, watched at least part of a game during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The tournament comes at a good time for Twitter, which has seen stagnant user growth in its first two quarters as a public company, with its stock trading near its post-IPO low.
"Most companies pouring huge amounts of money into advertising during the World Cup want to amplify their investment by reaching people through Twitter and engaging with them," Ribenboim said.
The executive dismissed concerns about Brazil's poor telecommunications infrastructure, which could affect people's ability to tweet from the stadiums.
All 32 teams participating in the World Cup have official twitter accounts, as do most of their football players. Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo leads the pack with 26.6 million followers, tailed by Brazil's Neymar with 10.8 million and England's Wayne Rooney with 8.8 million.
Ribenboim said Twitter has been working closely with football federations and even coaching players on how to use the social media.
