Other measures the developer will look at as punishments

  • Today, Jagex has announced plans to take on the issue. In a new blog post which is attributed to "The RuneScape Team", Jagex claims that "gold that is purchased through RWT is a major issue in any online game that uses an option to OSRS Gold trade currency", and that although its "Anti-Cheating Team has done much to fight RWT sellers both inside but also out" It will soon be taking stronger action with immediate impact.

In a statement, Jagex claims to have the "growing team and improved tools", Jagex says it will not just be seeking out sellers of gold and other resources through RWT but as buyers. The aim is to limit the demand, as well as the supply.

Jagex announces that it will have to send "messages to players whom we've found engaging to engage in RWT" within "the next few hours". "For anyone who has been involved, we want to make it clear that this is your first und only caution," they added.

Other measures the developer will look at as punishments for RWT actions are scheduled to include wealth removal - essentially the removal of illicit gains from accounts of players at the server level. Also, possible bans.

RuneScape's PvP feature, known as"the Duel Arena, will also have stricter rules put in place. Jagex claims that the feature "has been a catalyst for this toxic behaviour" and that 38 per cent of all bans against RWT action up to this point are due to this part of the game. Jagex claims that this equates to "thousands of bans per month".

As a result, the developer seems to be taking the nucleus option, saying "we're considering in the future to remove this Duel Arena out of RuneScape entirely." As of now, it will implement "some temporary steps" to tidy up PvP "until our team of developers is able to Buy OSRS Gold create a major update that fully substitutes for the Duel Arena next year."
