How to clean and dry human hair wigs correctly?

You shouldn't wash your wig when it starts to feel dry, rough and sticky. First thing’s first. Never ever throw wigs into the washing machine. This is too subtle for your speed cycle. Treat the wigs just like your own hair, clean them as frequently as your own hair but not too often. Clean them every one to two weeks or less, if you are a fitness enthusiast, go out often, or use many products.

Washing wigs may be easier than washing your own natural hair. What's the difference? You can see what you are doing! No rubbing or pulling!

The following steps are detailed for cleaning and drying wigs:

    1. Gently remove any knots and tangles with a detangling comb.

    2. Fill the sink (or bucket) with cold or warm water and 1-2 cups of your favorite mild shampoo. Mix shampoo and water before soaking in the wig. If your wig doesn't accumulate too many products, combined cleaning (using conditioner instead of shampoo) is a good choice. If so, you should use shampoo.)

    3. Put the wig hair into the sink (or bucket), and then gently work the shampoo and water mixture through the wig to avoid any friction or pulling. Take some time to clean the lace and crown of wigs, because products tend to pile up there.

    4. Clean the wig as gently and thoroughly as possible. If necessary, rinse again to remove all shampoo. Also, pay special attention to the lace and top of the wig to ensure that all shampoo in this area is washed off.

    5. Condition your wig next. Put conditioner directly on the wig (instead of mixing it with water) and comb it with your fingers. Let the treatment stand for at least 2 minutes, then rinse with cold water.

    6. Don't wring out the wig. Gently wipe off the excess water. Either air-dry the wig on the wig rack or dry it with blow-dry on medium temperature. Tip: Overheating can damage hair fibers, so air drying is the best choice. Just like a typical washing day, plan accordingly.

    7. After washing your hair, dry it with a gentle conditioning spray to keep it moist. This step can prevent your wig from becoming fragile and dry, which will eventually lead to breakage.

How should I take care of the cornrows under the wig?

If you wear a wig to give your natural hair a chance to rest, then you must protect the hair below. The lining of the wig is rough, which may damage the hair.

Be sure of your hair is clean before wearing the new wig. Moisturizing shampoo works well (or clarifying shampoo for deep cleaning). Deep condition for your hair, and then blow-dry it with anti-heat agent. Before braiding, your hair should be fully dry.

Braid your hair into cornrows. If your hair tends to live by its own rules, the hairpin will give you a little more security.

Wear a wig cap when you wear a wig. It protects your hair from the friction of the lower side and keeps it safe. Wash your hair once every one to three weeks and comb your hair in cornrows at the same time. Don't skip the drying process, or bacteria will grow. Gently spray light oil on your head and hair every few days to keep it moist. Before going to bed, don't forget your satin or silk scarf.

Taking care of human hair wigs is as simple as taking care of your own natural hair. In the matter of fact, it might be easier (in our point of views). Don't forget to wash your face regularly, keep your hair moist, and you will keep in good condition. If you invest in a high-quality wig, it will let you wear it for many years.
