The Marvel Cinematic Universe never stops growing, constantly adding new superheroes to its ever-expanding ranks, with plenty of speculation on who may appear next. It seems as though Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige intend to adapt as many iconic comic book heroes to their franchise as they possibly can.
The cosmic hero Nova appears to be next on Marvel's list of characters to adapt for live-action, with the character set to make his debut in the near future of the MCU. With his first appearance so far unannounced, there are several projects, both confirmed and unconfirmed, in which Nova could make his debut.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is shaping up to be a bizarre and fun-filled romp, in true James Gunn fashion. It will be one of two holiday specials churned out by the MCU in the next several years, with the other being a Halloween horror special, which is set to introduce Gael Garcia Bernal's Werewolf by Night.
Very little is known about this unique project, but judging from its Halloween counterpart's proclivity to introduce brand-new characters to the franchise, the Christmas special may do just the same. Given the spacefaring nature of the Guardians team, Nova seems like a perfect addition to the crew, one who could benefit from an appearance in a smaller feature before moving on to a solo project or future team-up.
Thor: Love And Thunder
Thor: Love and Thunder is the next of Marvel's many cinematic endeavors, set to premiere in early July. The film is set to follow the titular god of thunder as he faces off against Christian Bales' Gorr the God Butcher, who is systematically murdering deities of differing pantheons, wreaking havoc on the cosmos.
The first trailer for Love and Thunder reveals that Thor will be traveling far and wide across the galaxy in his next adventure, coming across new peoples and species at every turn. It wouldn't be out of the question for the Avenger to meet some new heroes along the way as well, perhaps even Nova himself, making the young hero just one of several secret characters set to appear in Love and Thunder.
Avengers 5
Though the plot of the inevitable fifth installment in the Avengers franchise has yet to be confirmed, the MCU has strongly been hinted that it will be a Secret Wars event. While this film remains at some distant and unconfirmed point in the future, it is already one of the most highly-anticipated films in the franchise.
If Avengers 5 does prove to be a Secret Wars crossover, it will feature heroes from all across the multiverse, making it easier than ever to introduce new heroes to the franchise. Fans shouldn't be surprised if the Avengers lineup is completely rewritten as a result of this film, perhaps now including a certain beloved member of the Nova Corps.
Young Avengers
Though Marvel Studios has yet to officially confirm this intention, many fans believe that the MCU is building up to a Young Avengers team with its Phase 4 films and streaming series. Already, key members of the group such as Kate Bishop and Ms. Marvel are joining the ranks of the MCU, indicating that this team may be closer than ever before.
While Nova is not typically depicted as a member of the Young Avengers in the comics, the Richard Ryder incarnation of the character is almost always presented as a teenage superhero, which could make him a superb fit for the live-action adaptation of this team. Such a project could also be the perfect place for the MCU to test the character's popularity before giving him his own solo franchise.
