APS Certificate is now mandatory for Indian Students!!! An APS certificate will be required as part of the papers submitted for a German student visa beginning November 1. As a result, without their APS certificates, candidates will be unable to submit visa applications.

To study in Germany, Indian students must now submit an APS certificate along with their visa application. The Academic Evaluation Centre will evaluate the candidate's academic records and issue a certificate (authenticity certificate). In other words, the APS certificate is now a requirement to study in Germany. It is a verification of the authenticity of a student's academic documents during the visa application procedure.

Having an APS certificate will help you get into German colleges and get your student visa faster. An original certificate issued by the APS is essential for the student visa application. This blog covers what an APS certificate is and how to get the same?

    What is an APS Certificate?

It is a document that proves the authenticity of degrees and students' eligibility to study at a German institution. Students who have earned German or EU-funded scholarships, as well as Ph.D. applicants whose thesis advisors do not require it for enrolling, are exempt from the certificate requirement.

Students who are awarded with European-funded scholarships, as well as students who are pursuing Ph.D. in Germany and their thesis supervisors do not require an APS certificate, are exempted from the verification process. Furthermore, applicants for short-term courses (those lasting less than 90 days) are not required to have a certificate.

    The APS certificate application process

Following is a step-by-step process for the APS application:

    • First step is to fill in  and sign the form to register.

    • A sum of INR. 18,000, needs to be transferred to APS's bank account, which is a non-refundable fee.

    • Send the prerequisites and the completed APS form through courier.

    • Only complete applications will be handled after APS verifies the prerequisites.

    • The candidates' online profiles will be updated once the verification process is completed.

    • Accepted candidates can (are able to) apply for a German student visa.

Please keep in mind that the processing of the APS certificate application takes two weeks.

The following documents must be submitted along with the APS application:

    1. A completed and signed application form, as well as a passport-sized photo

    2. A copy of the fee transfer receipt from APS

    3. A copy of the Aadhar card with a cellphone number associated to it

    4. Passport size photos

    5. Copies of all your mark sheets

    6. Proof of German or English language proficiency

When an APS certificate is issued to a candidate, it is valid indefinitely. If the candidate's qualifying criteria have changed, he or she may need to apply for a new APS certificate under a different category.

Additionally in case of a degree yet to be awarded, then, provisional certificates can be presented but any older than a year will not be accepted.

It is critical that you apply for the APS certificate well in advance, with all of the essential documentation, otherwise your application may be rejected. According to a press release, applications that are incomplete or contain erroneous information will be rejected throughout the document verification process.

Finally, once issued to a candidate, an APS certificate is valid indefinitely. If the candidate's qualifying criteria change, he or she may be needed to apply for a new APS certificate in a different category.
