  • Your video game legacy dates back to 1989 when Mut 22 coins you were the mainstay of Tecmo Bowl. How was it to experience yourself virtually back then?

I'm still seeing myself as a player in the Tecmo Bowl. I've still got my video games. I still have the device in which to run it. But it's in a storage box that's in storage. It's iconic. It really makes me feel happy to have grown men in their 40s saying"Hey, my friend and I were involved in the biggest conflict of our lives, because we both wanted to be in the Tecmo Bowl when we were young. We took our parents' game and my dad locked it away in his tool cabinet. We were unable to play it for a whole month since the fight was too intense."I hear this a lot. At the sports memorabilia exhibitions, people are able to come up with the video game. They'll tell you, "I've have the game machine I played it on. My kids play it. My grandkids love it ... too. And everyone continues to debate who is going to take on the role of Bo Jackson.' Tecmo Bowl ... that was an enormous amount of technology in the early days. If you look it up now and think, "Wow this is an antique.'

I have not played Tecmo Bowl. It's the honest truth of God. I've seen people playing it quite a bit. However, I knew what I could accomplish. I knew how my Tecmo Bowl man could do. It gives me pleasure when people compliment me from that game.

How do we not move this over here, and put this together, and then cut it down to 5 or 6 seconds?' They glanced at me with a smile and thought 'Wow. It's likely to work. Then someone across the table looked at me and said 'Bo Knows!' Then it stuck. There was no one who sat and racked their brains or stayed up all night with that phrase.
