Welcome to an exciting new era in personal training and professional training - plant based coaching! The shift from 'body cult' to 'plant cult' is becoming more mainstream each day, with numerous people choosing to live a healthier life by changing their diets. The plant based world is becoming more well known as more people become conscious of what they eat. The common question 'What do I need to do to get started?' is answered in this brief article!
Before we begin, please note that the term "plant based" is used simply to describe a healthier lifestyle, based on a plant based, vegan lifestyle. It does NOT suggest any special knowledge or skill, it does NOT automatically mean you are going to have a better physical, mental or emotional fitness than someone who eats animal products. In short, plant based coaching is for everyone interested in the mental and physical benefits of a plant-based eating plan, no matter your current diet or exercise habits! Plant-based living is not new, but the new approach makes it easier for people to incorporate this new way of living into their lives.
To get started with plant-based coaching, you will be required to make a two-part health plan. The first part will be an introductory consultation where a qualified coach will evaluate your current diet and lifestyle and create a tailored health plan for you. This health plan will then be presented to you for your approval and if accepted you will start the ninety minute introductory consultation. During your ninety-minute consultation, the coach will ask you some very specific questions about what you want to accomplish and find out about your lifestyle and health plan. You will answer honestly and completely, and be encouraged to share all the details about your health goals and objectives.
The second part of the plant based coaching process will involve implementing your plan. During this second part of the coaching session you will be asked to focus completely on the tasks at hand. Your coach will ask you to write a daily menu, make grocery lists, take daily supplements, complete diet charts, write out your weekly meal plans, etc. You are literally "on your own" during this time, and you will be expected to maintain these new lifestyle habits and behaviors, without the help or support of anyone else. You will find that this second phase of your ninety-minute coaching session is the hardest, as it requires you to truly focus, and give yourself a chance to really change your life for the better.

After the introductory consultation, the last stage of your coaching will be the implementation phase. At this point you will have completed your health plan and you will be ready to implement it. During the implementation phase you will be given specific tasks to execute your new lifestyle. For example, you will be required to create grocery lists, create meal plans, write out your plan for when you will take your vitamins, and so forth.
Your first sixty minutes of coaching will be the introduction to this new lifestyle, and it will allow you to identify which lifestyle features (such as grocery lists, meal plans, etc.) best work for you. Once you have identified which lifestyle features work best for you, then you can work together to create a full, one on one coaching session with your coach. During your one on one coaching session, your coach will guide you through the process of actually implementing the changes that you have decided to make, in your daily life. This is why it is important to have a good, full introductory consultation with your coach-they can help you identify which lifestyle changes will work for you, and can also help you decide which specific lifestyle coaching program(s) will work best for you.
