The Nintendo Switch version 1.11.1 of Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now available. As was expected, the most recent update to the game is a relatively minor one that focuses primarily on correcting a handful of issues that players may have encountered. Over the last few months, fans have been waiting with bated breath for some kind of significant expansion, but there hasn't been much in the way of new content to enjoy in the game. A major update will be released this year, according to Nintendo, but that won't make anyone feel any better in the meantime! The following are the official patch notes from the publisher:

    Issues have been resolved.
The following issues that existed in Version 1.11.0 have been resolved.

There was a problem with the DIY Recipes app where sorting by order obtained did not display recipes in the correct order. This has been resolved.
A problem with color variations of certain items not showing up in the Photopia item catalog has been resolved.
The closing time music in Nook's Cranny was not playing as intended due to a bug that was fixed.
There was a problem with certain seasonal clouds not appearing as they should have. This has been resolved.
Since its release last year, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has proven to be a huge success for Nintendo. In the company's financial highlights for the second quarter, the company revealed that the game has now sold 33.89 million units, solidifying its position as the second best-selling game on the Nintendo Switch. It's a significant improvement over Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which was the previous game in the series and, prior to New Horizons, the best-selling Animal Crossing game. Since 2012, only 12.93 million copies of the game have been sold.

Given the large number of people who have purchased New Horizons, it should come as no surprise that Nintendo intends to release a significant content update later this year for the game. The company clearly wants to keep fans invested in the game while also attracting new players to the title. Hopefully, the next major update will live up to the hype and provide fans with what they've been waiting for. Many features from previous Animal Crossing games would be welcome additions to New Horizons, with the Roost cafe and Brewster's return being the most notable. As the year draws to a close, it appears that we will have a better idea of what to expect in the coming months!
