  During these hard times of COVID-19 all over the world, millions of jobs have been lost, hundreds and thousands of businesses closed, and people are looking for their survival. To survive in this lockdown situation food is the most basic necessity. According to statistics an estimated 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted globally each year that is approximately one-third of all food produced for human consumption.

  The Kroger co. zero hunger | zero waste foundation has taken some good measures to address this issue. This step was taken by the Kroger company when they saw stats of food wastage in the United States (i.e. 40% of the food in the US is thrown away).

  This urged them to create a foundation and its name is based on their very goal— Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation. The Foundation has taken the step to feed as many people as possible. They have set some goals to achieve by 2025. Kroger zero waste zero hunger is one of the best initiative made by Kroger company and we’re appreciating them on this work.

  Following steps will be taken to reach there:

  1. Ten Million Dollar Fund which they call “Innovation Fund”, through Kroger Co. Foundation.
  2. Food Donations Acceleration to distribute 3 billion Meals.
  3. Nutrition is an important part of the meal, Kroger Zero waste zero hunger program plans to donate a balanced and nutritious food.
  4. To become an advocate for public policy solutions. Kroger food waste and all other food waste to be diverted from landfills.
  5. Kroger co. wants to be a zero waste company by 2020. Kroger zero hunger zero waste foundation will help to achieve their goal of zero waste company across all stores by 2025.
  6. World Wildlife Fund and Feeding America will be long-standing partners in this struggle.
  7. Transformation of Kroger communities and health improvement for millions of Americans.

  The COVID-19 situation has given a chance to Kroger Co. zero hunger | zero waste foundation to achieve their second milestone of three billion meal donations. As it is the toughest time for the whole world and US has more confirmed cases of coronavirus than any other country. So, the key focus of this program will be
