    What is lobular breast cancer?

     

     

    Cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells divide uncontrollably and destroy normal tissues of the body. Lobular breast cancer is also called invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC). It occurs in the lobule or lobules of the breast. The lobules act as milk producers in the breast. Lobular breast cancer is the second most common type of breast cancer.

    Invasive lobular carcinoma (lobular) occurs in about 10 percent of women. Women with breast cancer have problems with the milk duct, called invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC).

    Lobular breast cancer can occur at any age, but the risk is higher in women who are 60 years of age or older. According to research, the risk increases after menopause.

    There are two types of lobular breast cancer

     

    • Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC)
    • Lobular neoplasia (LCIS)

     

     

     

    What are the causes of lobular breast cancer?

     

     

    Lobular breast cancer problem may occur due to the following reasons-

     

    Increasing age - With aging, the risk of breast cancer also increases. Lobular breast cancer occurs in women older than other breast cancer patients.

     

     

    LCIS ​​- LCIS is not a cancer but, it points to cancer.

     

    Postmenopausal hormone- Estrogen and progesterone during or after menopause may increase the likelihood of lobular breast cancer.

     

    Inherited genetic syndrome- The probability of having hereditary diffuse cancer syndrome is less, however, if any woman is suffering from hereditary diffuse cancer syndrome, they are highly likely to have lobular breast cancer and gastric cancer.

     

    Inherited genes in women increase the likelihood of breast and ovarian cancer.

     

     

     

    What are the symptoms of lobular breast cancer?

     

     

    There are no symptoms of invasive lobular carcinoma in the initial stage. However, as the stage progresses, the following symptoms start appearing.

     

    • Any part of the breast begins to harden.
    • Swelling in the breast.
    • Changes in skin texture above the breast.
    • There is also a change in the shape of the nipple, such as dimple in the breast or reddening of the breast.
    • Discharge of milk (milk) -like fluid from the breast, which are not actually milk.
    • Feeling pain in the nipple or breast.
    • Lumping around the breast.

     

     

     

    What tests are done for lobular breast cancer?

     

     

    • Biopsy
    • CT scan
    • PET scan
    • MRI
    • Chest x-ray
    • bone scan

     

    Along with getting information about cancer through all these investigations, stage information is also available. There are 5 stages of breast cancer. According to cancer experts, it is easy to fight this disease in the initial stage, but as the stage progresses, the risk also increases.

     

     

     

    How is lobular breast cancer treated?

     

     

    Doctor Breast surgery is performed for women suffering from lobular breast cancer. However, only the cancerous cells can be removed without removing the entire breast of most women. Along with this, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and hormone therapy are also treated.

     

    If someone in the family (blood relation) is suffering from or has lived with breast cancer, then the risk of breast cancer increases. In such a situation, the doctor is advised to take other medicines like anastrozole (Arimidex), exemestane (Aromasin), raloxifene (Evista), and tamoxifen (Nolvadex). These drugs can reduce the risk of cancer. However, do not consume medicines by yourself, but only after consulting a doctor.

     

     

     

    Women suffering from breast cancer should keep the following points:

     

    • Alcohol, smoking and tobacco should not be consumed.
    • Weight must be balanced.
    • Keep in touch with doctors.
    • Do not stand near persons who are smoking.

     

     

    Keep these things in mind:

     

    • Do not take birth control pills.
    • Do not consume alcohol, cigarettes and tobacco.
    • Do not include junk food in your diet.
    • Eat nutritious food and water.
    • Women should undergo mammography after the age of 40 years.
