During Bethesda's first ever E3 press conference, the NW Astral Diamonds studio showcased all of their hardcore games coming in the future, including the ultra-violent DOOM, the exciting Dishonored 2, and the mind-blowing Fallout 4. Bethesda could've easily ended their press conference with Fallout 4 and fans still would've been more than satisfied with their E3 showing.Not content to rest on their laurels though, Bethesda also used E3 to make the surprise announcement of Fallout Shelter for mobile devices. The quirky title was met with a surprisingly enthusiastic response, which Bethesda attributes to the fact that they announced Fallout 4 first. However, despite the mostly positive reaction to Fallout Shelter, not all of Bethesda's fans have been happy about it.That's not because they played it and didn't like it, but rather, a huge portion of mobile users were left in the dark when it came to the initial release of Fallout Shelter. When Todd Howard announced that the game
was available for download immediately during his E3 press conference, gamers rushed to MMOGO their smart phones and tablets to download the free-to-play title immediately, but Android users discovered that the game was a timed exclusive for iOS.Now Android users at least have an idea of when they can expect Fallout Shelter to be available on their device of choice. Speaking to a fan on Twitter, marketing executive at Bethesda and host of their E3 press conference, Pete Hines, said that the game should be out next month, which would be August. A specific date in August was not confirmed, but specifics should be coming soon. Since its launch on iOS, Fallout Shelter has enjoyed tremendous success. It dethroned Candy Crush Saga in profits and App Store rank, and furthermore, stats show that the game has 70 million play sessions a day on average.Bethesda has recognized the success of Fallout Shelter and they've already started adding post-launch content, which Android users will presumably be able to
enjoy right off the bat. For example, Bethesda has added a new Legendary Dweller to the game in the form of Preston Garvey from Fallout 4, complete with his signature laser musket.With Fallout 4 coming November 10th, it's nice that Bethesda is still finding the time to support Fallout Shelter with new content as well as bringing it to additional platforms so that more gamers can enjoy the game. Fallout Shelter is a casual title, but it manages to appeal to hardcore gamers at the same time thanks to its firm Fallout tone and style, as well as its goofy sense of humor. There's a reason the game has been so successful, and now more gamers than ever before will have a chance to try it out. Fallout Shelter is currently available as a timed exclusive for iOS devices.
